Candlelight

It has been raining here in southeastern Tennessee for almost 24 hours non-stop with the forecast calling for it to go into the next two days. The power went off in this apartment complex around 5:00 P.M. and did not come back on until 9:30 P.M. Apart from worrying about the perishables sweating it out in the fridge, not having an internet connection, and fretting about charging my cell phone, not having electricity at night was not a big deal. But I must say, the quaint feeling of reading a book by candlelight wore off after about 15 seconds. Even in a deathly still room, the flame managed to flicked too and fro often bathing passages I had just finished reading in glorious romantic light, but banishing the words I wanted to see in disappointing darkness.
